Jaam-e Bosha // “Stuck in Traffic”

Below is a working script for a short film I’d someday like to make.

SCENE 1 – EXT. STUCK IN TRAFFIC – DAY

Guy and girl both stuck in frustrating back-to-back traffic, different cars. He’s sitting in front seat next to driver, drawing in sketchbook. She’s reading a book (English student). In the background the same song is playing on the radio in both cars. Their eyes meet. He smiles casually. She looks away shyly.

SCENE 2 – EXT. ON CAMPUS –  AN HOUR LATER

They reach campus at about the same time; they see each other but say nothing. Eyes meet again awkwardly.

SCENE 3 – EXT. STUCK IN TRAFFIC – ANOTHER DAY

He’s sitting on a rickshaw (with drawing tube: Architecture student), and he’s working on a sketch of her from the previous day. He’s been thinking about her. She notices the sketch and smiles slightly. Again eyes meet and he hides the sketchbook quickly, awkwardly and smiles at her. She continues to smile.

SCENE 4 – INT. ON CAMPUS – DAY

He sees her on campus and looks as if he’s about to go up and say something but instead smiles and turns away and stands in line for the elevator. Just as he turns around, she sees and looks as if she’s going to say something to him, but turns away shyly and returns to her group of friends. The friends inquire about him, but she shrugs them off.

SCENE 5 – EXT. STUCK IN TRAFFIC – DAY

Back-to-back traffic, stuck right next her window. He quickly pulls out his phone, swipes, touches, and taps at touchpad quickly. Shows her the screen which reads: Hi! : )

She waves back shyly.

SCENE 6 – EXT. ROADSIDE – DAY

Next week, she has car trouble. He notices, and stops to help. She smiles, and gets in his car.

SCENE 7 – EXT. ON CAMPUS – DAY

They both get out of the car and walk in together, smiling and laughing at one another.

THE END
